About the role

The Mathematics Tutor will be responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate virtual instruction across key mathematical concepts including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and advanced topics based on student level. The tutor will provide instruction in both one-on-one and small-group formats, supporting students in developing strong problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning, and confidence in mathematics. The role requires simplifying complex concepts into clear, relatable explanations while fostering a positive and interactive learning environment. This is a contract position, and compensation will be provided on a per-teaching-hour basis.

What you'll do

  1. Deliver structured and engaging Mathematics lessons to students ages 5–18
  2. Teach topics including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and other level-appropriate concepts
  3. Break down complex mathematical ideas into simple, easy-to-understand steps
  4. Use interactive teaching methods, digital tools, and practice exercises to enhance learning
  5. Prepare lesson materials aligned with Efiko Learning’s curriculum framework
  6. Assess student understanding through assignments, quizzes, and guided problem-solving
  7. Provide clear and constructive feedback to parents on student progress
  8. Maintain professionalism in all student and parent interactions
  9. Attend occasional virtual team meetings or training sessions

What we're looking for

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related field
  2. Minimum 2 years teaching or tutoring experience (online teaching experience preferred)
  3. Strong understanding of core mathematical concepts across primary to secondary levels
  4. Experience teaching children and teenagers (ages 5–18)
  5. Ability to simplify complex mathematical ideas into clear, easy-to-understand explanations
  6. Excellent communication, patience, and classroom management skills
  7. Reliable internet connection and ability to teach effectively in a virtual environment


Preferred:

  1. Teaching certification or relevant professional qualification
  2. Experience preparing students for exams (e.g., WAEC, IGCSE, SAT, or similar)
  3. Familiarity with digital teaching tools and online learning platforms
  4. Curriculum development or lesson planning experience
  5. Possessing skills in artificial intelligence for teaching is a considerable advantage
